The nightmare started this morning when part of the road in front of our house was underwater from all the rain we got last night. It’s a couple of blocks from my house and we sit much higher than that portion of the road so we are in no danger of flooding but it makes driving awful!

We were forced to take back roads that have too much traffic on them and we got stuck waiting at some lights for 3 turns before we were able to make it through. On a normal day it takes me 20 minutes to drop off the younger kids. Today it was close to an hour.

I am thankful though, it could have been worse. The baby fell asleep in the gloomy rain and so we didn’t have to listen to him cry as we sat still in the traffic. As long as the car moves, he’s okay. When it’s stopped, he’s not. So that one little blessing kept me from completely losing my sanity.

And I did “find” another picture. As I was stuck in traffic I saw a great shot of people going into the metro. I’m not sure when or how I’ll be able to get over there to actually take the shot — but it will be so worth it if I can figure out the logistics. Can’t really stop the car in the middle of the road to pull out my camera. Even with a reflective orange vest! : )
