I’ve been trying to find ways to automate things between the blog and the social medias around here. I haven’t found a way to add extra hours to the day yet and I figure a little automated cross-posting isn’t such a bad thing…as long as I don’t outsource the interaction, right?

Anyway, I was looking at adding my Instagram stream to flickr and G+ and hesitated. I hesitated because the style of photography I do on IG is pretty different than what I post on the other two. IG is exclusively mobile and mostly black and white docu-style of my family and daily life.

Flickr and G+ are more formal arranged photos taken with the DSLR, meticulously post-processed and now mostly lit with artificial light. I decided that I wanted to keep each stream pure and so I didn’t automate the posting process.

But discovering this made me curious. Why the big difference? Is it just because of the tool? Is it just because the iPhone is with me all day and so it is available to grab those documentary shots? Shouldn’t I use the DSLR the same way? Would the pictures be better? Different?

How about you? Do you find that you shoot differently between your phone and your camera? What is the driving force behind that? Is it vision, availability or something else?

Raise your hand if you have more than one camera.
